About this event

Environmental exposures (the exposome), such as pollutants and infections, interact with our genes to drive chronic inflammatory disease. However, we do not understand how the immune system at barrier surfaces decodes environmental drivers of disease. By bringing immunologists and environmental scientists together, we aim to develop new solutions to the global burden of chronic disease.

Despite growing evidence linking environmental factors to conditions such as asthma and inflammatory bowel disease, the underlying biological mechanisms remain poorly understood. This meeting will focus in particular on how immune responses at barrier tissues (such as the gut, lung, and skin) interpret and respond to environmental signals, and how these processes contribute to disease development and progression.

By bringing together expertise across disciplines, the event aims to foster new collaborations, catalyse innovative approaches, and help accelerate progress towards improved prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases.
